Jeans is part of the street-style mood. Find out our guide to denim for 2016!
Research on the trade of jean fabric shows that it emerged in the cities of Genoa, Italy. Genoa’s “jean” was a fustian textile of “medium quality and of reasonable cost”, very similar to cotton corduroy for which Genoa was famous, and was “used for work clothes in general”. Often the term “jeans” refers to a particular style of pants, called “blue jeans,” which were invented by Jacob Davis in partnership with Levi Strauss & Co in 1871. Originally designed for cowboys and miners, jeans became popular in the 1950s among teenagers, who follow the underground trends.
Denim is now part of the street-style mood. You can find different declinations of jeans, in fabrics, colors and models. Denim is the most used at all, but you can find other version of the jeans in finest fabrics, like gabardine, chinos and cotton. The colors are various, from the blue jeans to the classic black.
